FREE AS A BIRD

This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day was mental health during and after the pandemic. North Cape inhabitants, young and old alike, have felt the constraints of covid regulations.

The symbol of a bird cage is an image that all ages can relate to, as well as the concept of feeling like a bird in captivity, rather than a free bird. Children as young as two years old up to 94-year old adults have had an opportunity to make birds that represent their lives during and after the pandemic.  650 birds have been made and delivered to the North Cape Museum, where they are on display until the end of December 2021.
